Autologous blood therapy

ACP – Autologous Conditioned Plasma
PRP – Plateled-rich Plasma

Angiogenesis

The origin of every cell (skin, bone, cartilage, muscle, nerv, internal organs etc.) is an embryonal pluripotent stem cell. They only exist during the embryonal time, later they transform into adult stem cells which can only differentiate into specified tissue.

The reparation of a tissue-damage always starts with growth of new vessels into the region of damage. Angiogenesis is a normal and vital process in growth und development, as well as in wound healing and in the formation of granulation tissue. No matter which tissue is damaged (bone, cartilage, meniscus, skin, arthrosis), all tissues react in the same way. The irritation of tissue by damage promotes the circulation of blood.

Beside adult stem cells different growth factors, especially the Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) circulates in the blood as an precursor, linked on the surface of platelets. When getting in contact with endothel of damaged tissue PDGF becomes activated and promotes the angiogenesis.

These growth factors are very low concentrated in the blood. With a spezial centrifugation it is possible to increase the concentration up to the factor of 25.

Treatment

The Arthrex ACP double-syringe system is used to facilitate the safe an rapid preparation of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from a small sample of blood at the patient`s point of damaged tissue. The healing effects of PRP are caused by growth factors released from the platelets, which may induce a healing response. Because of the autologous recovey of PRP there are no alergic reactions or any other side effets.
